The Almagro International Festival of Classical Theatre Foundation was created in 2011, in order to endow the Festival with a legal entity, which was lacking until then, and hence expanding its capacity to act and develop projects throughout the year.
The Foundation is dedicated to preserve, highlight, promote, disseminate and make visible around the world the immense cultural heritage linked to the Golden Age.
Its ongoing activity is developed throughout the year and it gains more visibility during the Almagro International Festival of Classical Theatre.
The Foundation works at the national and international levels, creating artistic bridges with countries from five continents: strengthening links especially with countries of Ibero-America and the European Union; as well as encouraging and carrying out professional -national and international- exchanges.
Since 2014, the Foundation has begun to develop its own projects - apart from the Festival - with the creation of Ensayando un Clásico , an initiative that has reached its third edition. Also in 2016, on the occasion of the fourth centenary of the death of Cervantes, six other projects were created under the title Acércate a Cervantes.
It is a public foundation, chaired by the Spanish Minister of Culture and Sport, Mr. José Guirao.
Its Director, Mr. Ignacio García, is also Director of the Almagro International Festival of Classical Theatre.
Together with all of them, the Governing Bodies of the Foundation are the Board of Trustees and the Executive Committee.
